What this site collects, why, and what it never does with it: in plain language, not legalese.

📊 Analytics

funfacts.space uses Google Analytics to see aggregate visit stats: page views, roughly how many visitors, general location (city/country level, from IP address), device type, and which pages are popular. This is standard, anonymized-at-a-glance traffic data, not a profile of you personally.

We don't have user accounts, don't ask you to log in, and don't run any server-side database that stores what you personally do on this site.

🍪 Cookies

Google Analytics sets a small number of first-party cookies (e.g. _ga) to distinguish returning visitors from new ones in the aggregate stats. These cookies don't carry your name, email, or any other personal identifier; they're just a random ID your browser holds onto.

You can block or delete these at any time in your browser's cookie settings without breaking any calculator on this site; none of them depend on cookies to function.

🔗 Third-Party Tools Used By Specific Calculators

A couple of calculators call outside services directly from your browser to do their job:

Daylight Hours and the Eclipse & Blood Moon Predictor's visibility checker send the location you enter (a ZIP code or latitude/longitude) to sunrise-sunset.org's public API to compute sunrise/sunset times, and to zippopotam.us to convert a US ZIP code into coordinates.
The Sun Angle & Glare Calculator also sends a ZIP code to zippopotam.us to convert it into coordinates; the Sun's position itself is computed entirely in your browser, with nothing sent anywhere for that part.
If you click "Use My Location", your browser's own geolocation permission prompt handles that; the coordinates go straight to the API call above and are never stored by funfacts.space itself.

Those requests are governed by each service's own privacy practices, not this one. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent anywhere unless the calculator explicitly says it looks up a location.

📢 Advertising: none right now. funfacts.space does not currently run any ads. If that changes (for example, by joining Google AdSense), this page will be updated first, and any ad network in use may set its own cookies or use device identifiers to serve relevant ads, similar to most ad-supported sites. You'd be able to opt out of personalized ads at any time via Google's Ads Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out page.

🧒 Children's Privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone who is. If you believe a child has provided personal information here, contact us and we'll remove it.

🌐 External Links

Some pages link out: to NASA's eclipse site, to the "A Jason Paugys project" credit in the footer, and similar. Those sites have their own privacy policies; this one only covers funfacts.space itself.

✏️ Changes to This Policy

If what this site collects or who it shares data with changes (most likely by turning on advertising once there's real traffic to justify it), this page will be updated to reflect that before the change goes live.
